Samsung broke records by shipping 12.5 million handsets

According to the Korean Herala’s report, 12.5 million sales of Samsung handsets became a smartphone sales record in the Chinese smartphone market during the first quarter. While Samsung reaches such figures, Apple’s iPhone saw sales of 6.1 million units. This is the first quarter when users purchased over 10 million Samsung’s smartphones in the country. Huawei, which sold 8.1 million, got the second place, . The third place went to Lenovo,with 7.9 million sales. Coolpad and ZTE reached fourth and fifth place respectively, moving 7 million and 6.4 million units.

Thus, the sixth place with 6.1 million iPhones sales during the first quarter went to Apple.

The world’s third-largest smartphone manufacture LG, sold 100,000 devices with a share of the Chinese market equal to 0.1 percent.
In general, the Chinese bought 67.4 million smartphones from January to March, wich is about 32 percent of all worldwide handset sales.

According to the statistics, Chinese smartphone shipments came out to 82 million units, where 20 percent of the market belongs to Samsung and that is up 2.3 percent from the previous quarter.

Samsung and Apple became the only two companies to take place in China’s top-ten smartphone manufacturer list for the first quarter.

As the reports show, China has become the world’s largest smartphone market, and thus the next site of a battle for handset manufacturers around the globe.
